It is ok if that isn't the ONLY thing you are eating. Take prenatal vitamins (it is suggested that you take them at night if they give you an upset stomach), limit your caffeine intake and make sure you get the appropriate amount of folic acid (found in most cereals and in your vitamin), iron and B vitamins (found in all meats and in your prenatal vitamin). Also, calcium (found in practically all dairy products and green peppers and broccoli), and potassium (found in potatoes and bananas). These are THE most important things to get in your diet. When I was in my first trimester, it was all I could do to eat anything, so I ate what I could and slowly ate what I knew I had to.

OMG!!!!! Go have a Big Mac! It's the only way you will stop craving it. Once in a while (say a couple times a month) if you are craving "junk food" eat it. The baby will be fine. I ate Taco Bell about 3 times a week with my son and he was a nice healthy 8 lb 11 oz scoring top scores on the APGAR and no health problems.

Your body and the babies need a healthy well balanced diet. The reasons why are vast, but basically, all the nutrients are required to make some aspect of your body work efficiently (and the babies). There is no escaping that. Having said that, on some days it's difficult in pregnancy, to force yourself to eat something you really don't want ... with the nausea et cetera. On those days, use multi-vitamin tablets. Junk food is fine in moderation alongside a healthy diet, it's all about balance. The baby may be big, small or average ... not eating healthily has bigger consequences than size. Ask your midwife for more advice.

If you are craving a big mac I say go have it! From what I have read on healthy eating, having junk here and there is OK. We can't be perfect. If you are eating healthy most of the time, I would not feel bad for cheating here and there. Just don't do things like drink or smoke or eat junk all the time.
Good luck and congrats!

I started eating a lot healthier since I found out I was pregnant also. And there's nothing wrong with giving into to your cravings every once in a while.

I wouldn't say it is ideal, but I am not going to say not to eat junk food. I did and am now 28 weeks and my weight gain is normal. I hope everything goes well!
