This is assuming that both are not paralyzed and are in good health. I believe the man should, but then again, I am sexist. Just wanted to see what other people thought.

It would look very gentleman like of the man to hold the umbrella for both. Know I'd appreciate it. Think about it, it would look kinda strange, a woman holding the umbrella over both of you just exiting the train station because the family's mini-van is being repaired, only to be caught in the middle of a rainstorm, walking the dog, pushing the stroller, and text messaging a friend. Assuming you're empty handed. All while the both of you are both in perfectly good health and have no other debilitating paralysis. Just my thought. :)

Logic would dictate that the taller of the two would hold the umbrella. It makes sense, because if the shorter person held the umbrella, the taller one would either keep hitting his/her head on the umbrella or wouldn't be able to stand under the umbrella.

Totally depends on the couple. I would say that whoever is taller should, as that just makes sense. But taking turns would make sense, too, if you're walking for a while, holding your arm up gets pretty tiresome after a bit.

If we are talking practical,the person who is the tallest should hold it regardless of gender.Have you ever tried to get any shelter under an umbrella when the person holding it is shorter than you?

The person who is the tallest should carry the umbrella. Makes walking easier and everyone stays relatively dry.
