I'm Italian and I have pretty dark skin, it sure as hell is not white. I think that Italians should be considered Hispanic if anything because we have a lot more in common with Spanish people than British and the Italian and Spanish languages are very similar. Any1 agree?????

Yeah.. REAL ITALIANS are considered that. Here, In America for example... you tell a regular caucasian looking person that they are white, but they go all.. OH NOO.... I'm ITALIANNNN... it's so ridiculous, they don't speak italian or know anything from the italian culture it seems like it's an offense for them to be called white... just because one of their parents is actually italian or their great grand parents...

I don't agree

Italians are Europeans

and they're closer to the middle east than the Hispanic world in south America

You don't speak Spanish.

You're not Hispanic.

Maybe "Latin", like, Latin American.

But you look at Mario Batali--that dude looks like Hagar the Horrible...you're not the only Italian out there.

And what about northern Italians? Wouldn't they have more in common with Switzerland than Spain?

And Hispanic is only a linguistic category, anyway. It has nothing to do with race or nationality or culture.

to me, people generally split race into the four general groups; white, black, Hispanic or Asian. Italians are generalized a being white, but it's good that you don't want to be labeled! Kudos from liking where you come from!

My boyfriend is about a quarter italian, and he has fair skin. I think italians are italians, just like chinese are chinese, no reason to combined the groups.
