I know I have a virus
I want to wipe my C drive clean
I tried doing it with the windows XP CD
all it did was to place a second copy of Windows on my drive

The second copy is badly infected
I cannot use ,un-install or reinstall Internet Explorer nor Mazilla Firefox

When I boot I can choose which copy of Windows XP I want

to load

If I choose the first copy it never boots it tries over and over again

The second copy boots and loads but it has some sort of virus
I went to command prompt and typed "Format"

It cannot format because the drive will not un mount

It tried to unmount the drive but no luck.

I attempted to close every process possible

I tried many things including right click on my computer
Nothing happens it does not recognize any more than one partition

Someone said that I may have the wrong version of DOS

Question:
Is there a freeware utility I can use to finaly format my drive

so that I can reinstall Windows XP ?

You can format your harddrive with Windows XP CD. When you boot up from Windows XP CD, there is an option where you can install a fresh copy of XP after formatting. Just look carefully when you install it. (don't just hit NEXT button)
