You do need to find out why it hurts. It could just be that your man is simply larger than your body can accept, but that will change with some time.

Just use LOTS of lubrication, which helps to alleviate the pain by helping to avoid the friction. And make him take his time and be aware of how you feel around him. If you cooperate with each other you can find positions that will not hurt as much until your vagina stretches to accept him.

EDIT
If you truly feel you are not ready and that is why it is hurting, perhaps have your partner perform oral sex on your for a while, and maybe insert a finger, then two, then three. And just relax. You might just tense up too much because you have some sort of subconscious fear of sex. Sex is great. It's pleasurable, it's fun, and it's what happens between two people who love each other. If you have any "dirty" thoughts about sex, as a result of your upbringing, get rid of those thoughts. Sex is not dirty. It is a beautiful thing.

There could also be a physiological reason it hurts. There may be some sort of abnormality in your vagina that his penis rubs against that causes you to hurt. Before you make and rash decisions, go see your Doctor to rule out any abnormalities. Once those are ruled out, your Doctor may just tell you what I told you above about lubrication, different positions, and being aware.

I went through IUI and it was about $2000 for each try... I did it 3 times. My insurance picked up most of the cost and I paid for the medication.
The hardest part of the whole procedure were the shots. My husband had to give me shots in my butt each night. The procedure is a piece of cake and it doesn't hurt at all. They inject you with your husband's specimen and you lie on the table, elevated, to help the sperm settle inside you. Some woman may feel slight cramping, but it's easy.
Sex is the same after the procedure and now I have a great 4 year old son. You will feel the same as other prgant women.
I've also did in vitro twice, but had miscarriages. Good luck to you.

I would go to the doctor, intercourse should not hurt you so bad that you don't even want to do it at all. Intercourse is also extremely healthy for you-increases your heart rate (cardiovascular exercise), release happy hormones (acts as anti-depressant), makes headaches go away and so much more. There is a reason you are hurting and you need to find out why.

before you go for any way other than natural... go see a doctor and find out why it hurts. Trust me the natural way is more fun, less expensive and less invasive. good luck
