Well, on the bright side, medicine encompasses MANY career tracks. Medicine needs more than just physicians and nurses to survive.

Realistically, your 2.33GPA is not going to get you into a top university, and it doesn't predict a very good prognosis for medical school. Sorry, but thems the breaks. Med school matriculants these days have college GPAs upwards of 3.6 and MCAT scores in the upper percentiles.

But you can pick from plenty of other professions that are medical. Have you considered X-ray tech? Pharm tech? Nursing assistant? Medical billing or transcription? Many of these fields only require vocational schooling or certifications. Maybe an associates degree at most. They are in demand and they pay well.

That's going to be tough. Med school tends to be very competitive as there are only 83 med schools in the US and there are far more people trying to get in than there are seats available. As for med school admissions standards, all I can advise you is to get a copy of _Peterson's Guide to Graduate Schools_, find out which grad schools even offer an MD program, then surf the web to various med school sites to find their admissions requirements. There might be a few smaller, less prestigious med schools that would take you with a lower GPA (though I can't promise you anything). With a low GPA, you are definitely going to need a very high MCAT score.

well, the minimum acceptable gpa for any kind of medical program is around a 3.0. take into consideration the limited available spaces in the medical schools and the thousands of students who have 4.0 gpas or above. that isnt to say that someone with a lower gpa couldnt get it. there are other factors like experience, internships, and recommendations that help out but anything below a 3.0 is a bit unrealistic for medical school unless you're going outside of the US to go to med school...sorry :(

The low GPA is going to kill your med school application if you are in college right now. Generally, GPA and MCAT scores are used to weed out those students who aren't med school material from those who might be. If you are in high school now, study like crazy to raise your GPA and get into a decent college. You will probably need a 3.5GPA (out of 4) in college to get into med school, assuming you have a reasonably high MCAT score.

2.33 for undergrad or high school?

Either way, not looking good.

If you're just going into college, go into a science degree that satisfies pre-med requirements. Study, study, study! You need at the very least a B average.

If you're already done with your undergrad, forget it.
