I am a young professional who is looking to move somewhere new. What are some cities that are good for young professionals getting out of college and starting their career? I am a software engineer by the way.

DC is the most obvious. I don't recommend coming here though. It sucks the big one.

The west coast has the IT industry, so Seattle, Portland or San Francisco would be good too.

Some happenin' cities right now -- Las Vegas, San Francisco (but it's really expensive there), northern Florida, Atlanta, Chicago, or if you can stand the cold then Boston is pretty good and there's a lot of young people there for you to meet.

I've heard Austin, TX, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
