Because Giambi from all accounts is a likable guy. Bonds on the other hand is a very self center egotistical jerk. That is the biggest difference

I hate Giambi too, so it is not a racial thing. I actually hate Giambi worse than Bonds (though I hate both a lot) because Giambi screwed over the Oakland Athletics, who are a team I like. In general, most people hate Bonds more because he gets more negative publicity for being the egotistical jack off he is. Giambi gets the free media pass that any player in New York or Boston gets because ESPN (which owns baseball) always promotes that Boston and New York are the center of the universe and anybody associated with those cities can do no wrong.

The question isn't whether or not he has taken steroids, the question is whether he knew what he was taking was steroids. Sheffield, Bonds, and Giambi already testified that they did indeed take steroids, but Shef and Barry claim they didnt know that they were taking steroids, they thought they were putting a flaxseed oil creme on their bodies. If they [Shef & Bonds] are telling the truth, then Anderson could be in severe trouble for distributing a misleading, illegal product...kinda like giving out heroin as a painkiller. Just because Anderson is keeping quiet doesnt necessarily mean that he's covering up for Barry and Barry alone. BALCO's clients went from pro-athletes all the way down to high school students, as well as the BALCO employees themselves. IMO, he's not keeping quiet to protect Barry, he's keeping quiet to protect a much bigger network of clients. Barry is just the poster child, because people need to put a face on the problem.

This question has a very simple answer.

Because Barry Bonds is about to break the all time home run record, and he holds the single season home run record.

If Giambi were talented enough to come remotely close to either of these records, he would be hated as much as Bonds is. And really, if Bonds didn't get the single season record, and if he wasn't on the brink of breaking the all time record, no one would be talking about him. because no one would care.

Because Giambi was a man and admitted has done something wrong unlike Barry Bonds who always denies.

AND Giambi is respectable he doesnt have a huge ego like Bonds.

Bonds is just a down right jerk.

I believe that Giambi is equally scorned by the fans and media because of his steroid use. Bonds is ostracized because he doesn't want to admit he cheated and ruin his lock on immortality.

Giambi clearly feels somewhat bad for whatever it is he did, but he hasn't yet been man enough to state in public, clearly and without ambiguity, that he has used steroids.

The Giambi luvvers just fill in the blanks for him, doing most of the work he wants done.

There's actually no difference because people may use the lame excuse of "Barry's Personality", which is nonsense. I've met both Barry and Jason at work and at the ballparks when Jason was still an Athletic. Barry and Jason are great human beings and genuine towards their fellow man.

I'm proud to have met both of them and I do not care about steroids and HGH because both men took them when they were legal to use.

Because Bonds is close to beating the home run record. If Giambi was a couple of homers away, people would start to hate him. Also because Bonds is a DE DE DE.

Giambi isn't about to break baseball's greatest record. They don't care about him as much.
