Well i think that you got the reaction that you wanted didn't you!
I have worked for Land Rover, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Cadillac and GM. I have also owed Range Rovers, Jags, Corvettes and a Trans am. You have to remember that UK vehicles and American vehicles were initially developed for a very different market and driving conditions. American cars had to cover great distances with comfort and not to many corners and also there fuel costs were low. Where in UK we have small roads not that great distances and lots of bends with high fuel costs. So if you put each vehicle in a different or wrong environmeant that it is ment for it will not be comfortable for the driver. I mean if you took a old Mini and tried to drive it from LA to Vegas in the summer you would probably die, or if you took a Cadillac and tried to turn it round on a English country road you would get wedged in! Lots of American cars that get to the UK have been bodged up hence they are unreliable but also if you look at the price of the US vehicles in the US they are great value for money. So be sensible and use the right vehicle for the job don't blame the vehicle! I have broken down in a new Cadillac in the Desert and a new Rolls Royce in London i can tell you both are no fun and would not like to do it again. I am sorry to say i now drive a German made car.

Yes, they can go around corners above 3mph. No, most of them do not weigh 15 tons. Chaep and ugly? Well, you're right there. Not fast? Define fast. Corvettes are fast, Aveos are not. Just like Supras and Tercels. Solid axles and leaf springs are a GOOD thing - they're durable - and PLENTY of British cars (like almost EVERY Land Rover) uses them.
The reason (long story short) why American cars suck nowadays is... a long time ago gas was cheap, and American cars had nice big V8s that made lots of HP. Then gas became expensive and hard to buy. The American car makers were so used to making powerful V8s that they couldn't figure out how to make anything else, so what they made instead were gas guzling 4 cylinders and weak V8s, which made the cars suck. About 30 years later, they started to figure out how to build decent cars again.

Really? I suppose Rover and MG are landmark vehicles in your eyes. Talk about sh*tboxes! Remember Lucas wiring? I doubt you're old enough so let me fill you in. This crap electrical system was fitted on millions of English made cars (including Jag, Triumph, MG, etc, etc) and was the single biggest factor in the demise of ALL of those car brands. Everyone reffered to Lucas as the 'Prince of Darkness', not because of any demonic reference but because the electrics failed so often the cars couldn't even be driven in the dark (or light, rain, heat, cold, etc). Unless you are mentally stuck in the seventies (when American cars really WERE junk) then you better take a closer look at our vehicles today. Sure, 90% of the models are dull, bland, overweight and forgetable but they will ALL go over 100,000 miles with minimal maintenance, fast and they all are very dependable and much, much cheaper to repair than euro models. When you're old enough to actually DRIVE I suggest you buy a Peugeot -- you two are meant for each other.

Oh I don't know... when I was on 'vacation' there a few years ago, I drove a Chrysler Sebring Convertible and it was a big dreamy V6. I'd like to amend your question and say that "American cars go like sh*t off a shovel!" It was a fast beast.
My only gripe was that when it rained, I had to bring the car to a complete stop before being able to raise the roof.
And later on my Vacation I drove an Oldsmobile Alero and it was very comfy as well.
All in all, I covered about 3,500 miles in just under a month but the gas was cheap... about 50p a litre... (converting for US gallons and UK litres).
Apparently the gas cost 25p/liter and the government slapped on 25p in duty.
Here in the UK, it is also 25p/litre for the petrol but the government slap on 70p in duty...
Stop living in the 70s dude!

so i guess the corvette, built in america in bowling green kentucky, does compete very well? i guess then ferrari's also suck wind? the fact is the corvette is a world class sports car that competes with ferrari, and costs a bunch less, and still turns in better than 20mpg on the road. and how about the mustang, it has 300 flywheel hp, turns in 1/4 mile times in the mid 13's stock, and also cranks out better than 20 mpg. and if the mustang is so bad, why did it dominate grand am racing in 2005 and 2006? and against the likes of the vette, porsche, bmw, etc. the fact is american cars compete with any car in the world, and if you add in tuner cars like the lingenfelter vettes and the steeda mustangs, they blow they european and japanese cars into the weeds. in fact the performance models of the big three american automakers trucks can handle many of the foreign cars on the road.

I'm not American but I would love a cadillac. How can you criticise American cars when the British cars are rubbish e.g. the Ford Fiesta/Escort, Rover etc. They all look the same and have no character as well as being built like a plastic toy. American cars may be heavy because they are built well. By the way shouldn't you be doing your spelling homework?!

As American I have to, american automobile technology is far from perfect. As that being, Ford has done a lot to improve itself. For Example the cavaliar is a small very good for gas mileage so as the Dodge neon

Your facts are as good as your spelling. How is it an Escalade has 420hp and gets 18 mpg? There are few autos that use leaf springs anymore. How about a Cobalt with 310hp in a light small car......hmmm. What English car is built well enough to import to the USA.......Oh yeah England was trying to copy Ford back in the old days
BUY AMERICAN
