My question is: what book does the Yuzhang Vong invasion start in and what book does it end in? I'm trying to avoid those books and the ones in between, if possible. I'm up to the Lost Ones in the Young Jedi Knights.

I have been studying and reading about the Old Republic for the past year or so, and have recently begun branching out to the New Republic. I had read a book that talked about the Yuzhang Vong (spelling is wrong), and I thought they were so disgusting that I haven't read a book past the Galactic Civil War until now.

Your help is appreciated!

Anything that says New Jedi Order on it is going to be about the invasion. You might also want to avoid the Legacy of the Force series that is currently being published it is also much darker than the classic Star Wars and it won't make much sense if you haven't read the New Jedi Order books. Anything written from the publication of Vector Prime on is very different from the older Star Wars novels.

It tells you what books anything appeared in. Just look up "vong" and at the very bottom of the page it tells you every single book they are in or mentioned in.

If you don't want to read about the Vong invasion, don't read the New Jedi Order series. That details the entire war from start to finish. This will mean that you probably won't want to read the new Legacy of the Force series as it relies heavily on events of that series. Anything 35 or more years after the Battle of Yavin would likely fall in this category.

While the Vong are disgusting, they are also something of an enigma, as they don't appear in the Force at all.

There is plenty in the EU taking place after the GCW that is good. The Truce at Bakura would be an example.

Most of the book featuring the New Republic have nothing to do with the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. In fact most are set before the invasion. The invasion beings in "Vector Prime." And despite the Vong, you're missing some decent novels.
