So far, UofH has good scholarships and it has the assured acceptance program. Besides it's bad rep for quality of education I don't see why UT Austin would be better.

When comparing schools for pre-med, always account for something called "matriculation rate." How many people does each school send to med school?

I can tell you this: UT Austin has a higher matriculation rate than U of H.

Schools with higher matriculation rates have them because they do a better job or training their students and giving them the resources to apply (better pre-med counseling and support, etc.).

Rice also has a high rate -- have you thought about them?

What assured acceptance program is this? If UH guarantees a spot in their medical school, take it. Otherwise, UT Austin is better because the rep is so much better so that when you do apply to medical school, you'll have a better chance.
