Any suggestions to make this crafty project easier? Is there a type of glue or application that can be put over the surface first and then let me place the beer caps onto the surface and let dry? Thanks in advance!!!!

I was thinking about filling each beer cap with hot glue so that it allows more surface area to stick to the coffee table.

The problem is, I would like the most time efficent way of doing this and I'm not sure what kinda of glue or application that I could smooth over the surface of the coffee table first.

I think you should use mortar, like for mosaic. You could build a little frame on the top of the table, all around the edges, by gluing on some pieces of 1x3 with wood glue.

Hot glue usually doesn't work if you want things to be permanent. I would visit your local hardware store and check out a strong glue for metals and wood (or whatever your table is made of). There's stuff like Gorilla glue or bonding glue you could use. Also, they do have a spray adhesive you could get at your craft store...it looks exactly like a can of spray paint. You might want to use that first so you can get a better idea of placement before you use the heavy duty stuff. Sounds like a lot of fun. BTW, lots of beer bottle caps on eBay if you are looking for more. (My son loves caps so I looked) Hope this helps.

It depends what kind of wood your table is. Since I dont' know I'm going to assume that it's not a very valuable wood and that you probably wont want to take the caps off. Just go to home depot and buy the standard wood glue. It will work well with the caps and it will stick to the table.

you could also use an epoxy or a type of resin that dries clear. Go to you local hobby or craft store and ask about it. you can also try your local hardware or home improvement store for more information.
