XP? Open in safe mode, go to administrator, assuming that the owner of the laptop hasn't set a password for the administrator, it should not be password protected.

If your moral intentions are sincere then I'd recommend consulting the vendor of which the laptop was made. If you own the laptop and need to gain access to it regardless, you'll want to crack the password. Brute force software may be your answer. More info here: http://lastbit.com/rm_bruteforce.asp
You'll want to download the prog to a flash drive for ease of use first.

Yeah, follow the first tip--see if you can get around it logging in as Administrator. If the administrator password is set up, there isn't really an easy way to go around.

Restart when its starting up then hold down F8 and then start in safe mode. If you need to type in the user name just type "Administrator" and the password is blank.
