Keep the fruit dry. Lift it off the ground with something so it doesn't mildew from the moisture. Also, check every day for squash bugs (AKA stink bugs)

They will kill your vine in no time flat with a virus call baterial wilt. If you ever find any then pick them off and be aware that if there is one there are many more. You will have to turn over leaves and fruit. Pick the off and plop them into a pail of soapy water.

Just make sure that there is plenty of drainage, so that although your ground stays moist (not wet), it doesn't get
mouldy from sitting in moisture.
