I guess Pat Gillick thinks that Kyle Lohse is an upgrade over J.D. Durbin. I can't say I disagree although I am not in love with Lohse either.
I don't think they expect to win by adding Kyle Lohse. They expect to win by scoring 5.5 runs per game.

Yeah hes not the answer to our prayers but hes not that bad either. JD Durbin says hes not comfortable pitching out of the pen so he could be waived by tomorrow but waiving Mesa would make more sense. The fact is we didnt give much up for him and you can never have too many big league arms when your in a pennant race.
He got terrible run support in Cincinatti and has a chance to be pretty good with this offense behind him.

he cant be any worse then clay condry, geoff geary, or alfonseca, or mesa for that matter. The only half way decent people in the phillies bullpen (which is where i hope they put him) is brett myers, who blew it as a starter, tom gordon, and ryan madson (who is gone now). The starting rotation may be better now then at the start of the season. I would give the starting job to kyle kendrick over Freddy Garcia anyday.

There is just not much to pick up right now, with the exception of Teixeira to the Braves, and I am sure the Phillies are exploring every option to help them get to the playoffs.
