I have to agree with redsoxer (above).

Cable connection speeds are dependent upon the number of other internet users in your neighborhood and speeds can drop during higher usage times.

Depending on your specific location, actual DSL speeds can vary depending upon how far you are located from the local relay station.

Internet Service Providers also vary widely in the quality of their services and customer support. It really depends on what you want to do on the internet. For casual user, either should suffice nicely. For online gamers and heavy file downloading, more speed is preferable.

Personally, in my area I have found AT&T/Yahoo's DSL services preferable to service I formerly receive from the local cable provider.

Well, it depends on your ISP. But mostly Cable carries voice clearier than DSL does. And it has very fast-respond from the caller. If you're using Cable Connection High Speed Internet, your home phone is still working fine.

Good Luck,

The phone company does provide a line for data only that can be used for DSL. However that $19.99 is assuming you already have a line to connect DSL to. Call your phone company for the exact price you will have to pay. Pay attention. That price might be only for the first 6 months or so. Then it goes up.

This will depend on how far you are from a telephone sub station for DSL and how many are on the Internet in your neighborhood for cable.

The difference is probably undetectable by human factors and WAAAAY better than dial up, so get the cheaper one.

BTW, I have had Cox cable for about 6-7 years. No problem

Your punctuation, sentance structure, and English composition skills are just terrible.

I presume you mean to state:

I am think about getting high speed internet service in my home. Which is faster, DSL or CATV service?

Now to answer:

In many but not all cases CATV is faster than DSL. In several cases, the speeds are the same.

Often you will not notice the difference however because servers that feed downloads are throttled down.

Check price and speed and then decide.

Go with cable. I've had both and DSL is very slow sometimes. As for cable it's fast most of the time.
