Several years ago, MLB started using specially marked baseballs for players who were on the verge of significant achievements. In A-Rod's case, it is because he is on the verge of his 500th home run. The balls are marked and numbered with an ink that is visible under a certain kind of light (infrared, IIRC); the numbering allows them to be sure which ball was actually hit for the milestone.

Supposed to be a special baseball so they can track that it's the 500th homerun ball. That way when the fan catches it & A-rod wants that ball back they will know it's the real one & not a fake.

The ball is juiced, New York was tired of seeing him struggle for his 500th so they decided to cheat and help him get the prestigious 500th homerun.

cause he is about to hit his 500th career home run and they have specially marked balls specifically for when he comes to bat. when he hits the 500th they will be able to verify the markings for authenticity.
