What little progress that has been made, if any, does not make up for the loss of lives in this senseless war that started because of Bush's proclamation that weapons of mass destruction were hidden in Iraq. The middle-east countries have been battling one another over territory since Biblical times. Why should we think that an intrusion into their government is going to make a big difference, especially at the expense of so many innocent lives?

No, it is not, did you see how many Iraq's are without electricity. food, sanitation . living in poverty, water it goes on and on, If the mean their killing more innocent Iraq by having to starve , die of malnutrition if they call that the surge is working, it's only working to starve and kill the innocent people. Bush should have to live in theses conditions for 30 days and the war would be over. He is a sorry basta**, he cares no one but himself , he doesn't have the mental capacity to even realize what these poor people are going through just because a hunger for their oil, Shay admitted on Meet the Press about to the Oil, Tim Russert and Charlie Rangle and then tried to back down that he meant something else. Those Republican get sorrier everyday, I'll be so damn glad when 2008 gets here and get Hillary and Bill Clinton in office to straightened this horrible mess out that old ignorant and Al Capone has created. The whole party are a bunch of thugs, barring none.

A "Second Insurgency" - Pipelines being blown up cost Iraq 4 Billion a year, and some of that money goes straight to the Iraqi government's enemies.

"Mr Bowen's inspectors are among the few US civilian officials who still venture beyond the fortified bounds of the Green Zone in Baghdad into the rest of Iraq, to see how $18bn of American taxpayers' money is being spent. Much of the money has been wasted. Sigir officials have referred 25 cases of fraud to the justice department for criminal investigation, four of which have led to convictions, and about 90 more are under investigation.
A culture of waste, incompetence and fraud may be one legacy the occupiers have passed on to Iraq's new rulers more or less intact. Mr Bowen's office found that nearly $9bn in Iraqi oil revenues could not be accounted for..."

One of the other questions had a link to a ny times article stating that progress is being made. But the BBC are reporting a humanitarian crisis in Iraq. Seems the progress depends where you get your news.

Sounds like it is. But weather believe I it or not has no baring on reality. I hope it is working I hope that someday soon Iraq will be a free country of free people able to defend itself from terrorism by itself. I hope that potential young kids who are marked to become suicide bombers say no I'd rather get a job at the new Bagdad walmart and ask that new waitress out who just started at starbucks and take her to a movie and maybe get to first base sure sounds better then blowing my self up for a false moon God named Allah lol

Yes, I'm sure there is some progress in many areas. The US taxpayer has paid for enough programs that I would sure hope to hell that progress has been made.
However, I keep hearing horror stories though of projects started by the US and handed over to Iraqi's. In one such instance, the US handed over a power plant to the Iraqi's, but nobody was trained on how to operate it.
The power plant is no longer in operation, because the Iraqi technicians screwed up the turbines so badly that they cannot be repaired.

Yeah, in general. There is still a long row to hoe though. Will the libs win and remove us before the mission is fulfilled? It looks like a very real possibility. Those lives given in the line of this particular duty will have been wasted if that happens in my opinion. Where is that moral courage Reagan spoke of now?
"No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women"- President Ronald Reagan

Yes there has always been progress in Iraq, just have to stop listening to the lib news and ask the men and women that have been there. The overwhelming majority will tell you about the progress. As far as the troop build up I think it is working but we will need more time to know for sure.

The Generals and other military experts say we are making great strides to win but the politicians are scared to death that we will win. The democrats have hitched their wagon to America's defeat---their shame will never be forgotten.
