Because addition and subtraction are commutative, you can do this in any order you like. Might as well start by subtracting 1.8 from 2.4:
2.4 - 1.8 = 0.6

Now subtract 3.2 from 0.6 (if this is too hard, then subtract 0.6 from 3.2 and give it a negative sign):
0.6 - 3.2 = -(3.2 - 0.6) = -(2.6) = -2.6

- 4 + 2.4 = - 1.6
Explanation (use number line):-
Start at 0
1.8 Left and then 3.2 left takes you to 5 left.
From there go 2.4 to the right.
This leaves you at 2.6 left of zero.
Answer is thus - 2.6
