My 1995 540i BMW will not start nor will the alarm turn off. I unhooked the battery with the doors locked and the back passenger door open. I removed the battery cables from the battery and shut the door (the battery is located under the back passenger seat). When I returned I and hooked everything up the alarm started to go. I cant get it to turn off after using the key in every lock, replacing the battery in the keyfob, and trying to pull the fuse on the system. Please help, its going to cost an arm and leg for BMW to hook it to the cpu.

When an alarm is in a triggered state, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery should not "reset" it to a non-triggered state. It's in the design.

So unhooking the battery in various different permutations will not help.

Your only solution is to try to work on the keyfob. If that doesn't work, some BMW factory alarms will self-reset when the correct key with a working EWS is inserted into the ignition and turned to the ON position.

Other than that, you might want to get AAA to tow your car to the dealer. It may cost only an hour or less labor to diagnose the problem or disable/remove the alarm.

A new factory alarm unit costs in the region of $200.

However, in 1995, I don't know how "intergrated" the alarm systems were on BMWs. It may be just as simple as an aftermarket alarm system; in which case, you can just install a cheaper aftermarket unit.

First of all,was there any minor accident lately, infront or rear?
If so the switches could have shifted position.check that out.
Ok now u hook on your battery,
Close all doors, try to reset with your remote.Check yr remote batteries if working.
If alarm still on.Open the drivers door and insert your key into the ignition switch and bring to on position.it shud reset now.
Is there a reset button fitted elsewhere in your car.
When ignition is on press the reset for 5 seconds. It will reset now.Try and start the car.
Did you or anyone fit any items lately, check that area for wires being loose.
There is nothing serious in your car. is the alarm system disturbed.
Whereby it will not allow u to start the car.
Is your car battery strong. If weak/shorted this may happen.
Try with another battery please..

Steal your car. That usually turns the alarm off. if you are the car owner, rip the tweeter out and let it blink as much as it wants. Seriously... I had a 1989 Nissan 240SX that i found out how to trigger its "alarm' it blinked the hazards 25 times and wouldnt let the car start. If you disconnected the battery before you turned the key and then put the battery back on with the key IN the ignition but not TURNING it, it would do this.
