I am interested in buying a new dell laptop. They are both 1501 series but they are a little different. The one is a Dell AMD1501TUR2 and the second is a Dell AMD1501SEMP2. They all have the same specs except the processors. the TUR2 has a AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile processor and the SEMP2 has a AMD Sempron 3500+ Mobile
processor...which is better???

If you are just a casual user (for internet, office apps, MP3, DVD, downloading and light gaming) the Sempron would be OK because the 2nd core of a dual core will just be IDLE most of the time.

BUT if you are a heavy user who will run multi-threaded apps, symmetric multi-processing, multi-media encoding, etc., get the dual core Turion.

The Turion for sure. Yes it is dual core which will be a great advantage, but it also has more cache which will help performance as well. The only real use for the Sempron is if you are on a super tight budget and can't afford to spend anymore, but if you can spare the extra money, definately go with the Turion.

Go with the X2. It is a dual core as opposed to the sempron which is only single core. And turion is mobile technology.
