I agree it depends on the age.
Day time I like Dimetapp Cold & Allergy - work the best on the runny noses.
Night Time Robitussin Pediatric Night Relief - works best on the nose and cough.
But both of the above cause my kids to be really tired so if it is during school time I usually ony give them half the recommended dose.
but if it is just a small cold without bad coughing etc. I would go with either Motrin Cold or Tylenol Cold

It depends on how old your son is. If he's under two years old, check with your pediatrician. I really try to avoid giving my daughter medicine without my pediatrician's advice or a prescription. The more exposure they get to germs now, the stronger their immune systems will be. Just let him ride it out if possible, otherwise see your dr. Too much Tylenol or cold medicine for an infant is harmful to the liver.

NONE....try to avoid giving children anything for colds. You should only use to lower temperature if they are running a fever. Try saline drops up the nose to ease nasal congestion. and sucking the mucus and drip from the back of the throat to ease the coughing. Otherwise try to let it run it course to get it over with quicker.
