say that they want government to have as little influence on peoples lives, yet they insist on putting up MORE security cameras, listening in on people, and monitoring everything. its not like i would do something horribly evil, but it doesn't make sense with what they're saying. its just a never ending string of lies.

They don't bite the hand that buys them limos and $2000 per plate fund raiser dinners. When a government puts as much into surveillance as ours has, then you can be certain they intend to do something that would cause insurrection.

Because that way, when they are in power they can go hog wild and do whatever they want and do not have to worry about that pesky little ole Constitution and Bill of Rights, not to mention the laws! I think right now they are trying to back-pedal because they realize more likely than not there is going to be a Democrat in the Oval office in 2008 and they are panicking because they gave the Executive Branch WAY to much power! They are so stupid not to realize that the playground they created for themselves would someday be someone Else's playground. That is why there is a separation powers and each branch of the government needs to remain within their powers and each branch of the government needs to use their oversight powers to control the "Out of Control" branches (Like Congress is doing right now with the White House)
In response to the people who state "if you do not break any laws, what do you care" Let's see if you mess around on your spouse and someday run for office the world can see you did it because of cameras. If you fall on your face, it is on cameras, say you want to kiss in public, (Or more) Its on camera. I could go on and on the fact is, that is similar to saying you are "Guilty until proven Innocent" if you are innocent-what do you care? We care because we are a Democracy there is no reason to tape peoples lives everywhere. It is OK in a store, that is your private property. It is OK at a stop light if a camera tapes once the light turns red those people are breaking laws. But unless it is private property butt out! If they really want the info they can subpoena it and get it from the sattelite. Subpoena being the key word! You need to have a valid reason that a judge will agree with.

First of all Jimmy, you need to replace the word "republican" with the word "politician". I haven't seen a truthful one yet of either persuasion.
Secondly, as far as capitalism goes. You must first be a working person (as in old enough) to understand. If there are no companies out there, there is no one to work for. There must be people to start businesses so they can hire people to work. There must be some sort of reward for someone to do so. So in a lot of cases a successful business owner will be financially comfortable. Some even become wealthy. If there is not that opportunity who will start a business? Then you have the satisfaction of being able to offer someone a place to work. From entry level positions to executive positions as a company grows. Do you think our government could start and operate profitable businesses? How well does your license bureau work? How efficient is your Human/Social/Child Services bureau in any larger city? Social Security is working wonderfully(sarcasm). All but the tiniest percentage of politicians lie. They lie to get in office, they lie to stay in office, then they have to lie when they get caught doing something wrong.(as more and more are). Then they lie about their sexual preferences or anything else that could ruin their "good name". The ones that don't lie rarely get elected to anything.

Anyone with even the slightest clue about what is going on in the world would NOT whine about having surveillance cameras all over place.
Those of us who are aware of the reality of what is happening all around us, know that surveillance and phone monitoring is a necessary part of fighting terrorism and crime.
We have every right to spy on people for the purpose of our own safety.
Government has to control the people who have no control over themselves.

Well, ignorance is bliss. And I'm not saying us conservatives are ignorant of things, but in this case you don't even know that these things are going on. They aren't really present and visible to you. Something like healthcare for instance, that is visible in your life, and we want less government on that, but if a camera is watching you, who cares? As long as you don't break the law you will be fine.

Who employees you? Who gives you the opportunity to work to buy a home, plan a retirement, health care benefits, send your children to college, buy a car, new furniture, electronics, take vacations, feed your family? The list goes on. Why do you want to destroy that? Liberals make no f'ing sense. Is a little security to ensure your safety from terrorism that bad? Perhaps you should wear a burka, then they will not know who you are.

Bush doesn't follow the small government model that is typically Republican. Besides, in a time of war and threat of terrorism you really need a massive government overseeing operations.

the security cameras aren't in ur house r they? no! they're in stores, hospitals, and banks to help prevent crime. you may not commit a crime but ALOT of other people will. the government isn't putting cameras in churchs or in the bathroom! we can say what we want, date who we want, and worship who we want. why can't you be happy with the freedoms that you have?

The Republicans are in Office of course they are the ones making the suggestion, they aren't monitoring YOU'RE calls, unless your name is on the list, but unless you're a terrorist I dont' think you have anything to worry about-
P.S. Yes I'm all for freedom over security as you seem to be as well- but I don't think this is going to be our biggest problem.
Good question.
