The term "Nazi" is short for "Nationalsozialistisch", which means "National Socialist". Remind me, who in the US is for 'National Socialism'? ...Oh yea, our buddies the Liberals. Looks like you guys should try other languages then Spanish.

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions." --Adolf Hitler

(Speech of May 1, 1927. Quoted by Toland, 1976, p. 306)

Fascist: Economic conservative, Tie government, corporations, and workers together. Scapegoat sexual deviants, people of other religions and ethnic backgrounds, those who can't "pull their own economic weight"

Ok Technically there is not a 1:1 correlation between Neo-cons and Fascists/Nazis. But there was not such a correllation between Spain, Germany and Italy. And even the most incorrigable conservatives learn what they did wrong so as to not repeat the mistakes next time.

That doesn't mean the Nazis were anything close to the ideology of socialism. Unless you consider giving a large amount of the population free "showers". They has an ideology all its own, and they disguised it by saying it was socialism.

But some people try to link Republicans, or Bush specifically to Nazis, by saying that they use fear-mongering as a way to gain control.

NATIONAL socialism. Which is _NATIONALIST_ socialism. They were nationalists first, and instead of what other socialists believe - that people should do things for the service of SOCIETY they believed service of the STATE (hence nationlism) was more important. State first, people second.

And even ignoring the fact that national socialism is utterly UTTERLY different to normal socialism, is the Democratic Republic of the Congo a democratic republic because it says so on their passports?

Looks like you should try learning some history.

Those that compare the Republican party to the Nazi's are doing a great disservice to the millions who were murdered under the Nazi regime. These fools haven't even missed a welfare check, so I would hardly call it comparable.

The same reason you find it necessary to be insulting to all "liberals" at the end of your question. Because the political debate on this forum is meaningless and immature. There are extremely serious issues facing our country, but most prefer to be fans of their "team" instead of actually discussing views and ways forward. If you want things like this to stop, then start with yourself.
