Do you think "losing one's virginity" is for just intercourse or for all forms of sex?

Enough about the hymen people! That thing breaks with tampons so it's a terrible way to judge virginity.

As I look at the Biblical definitions of virginity where they talk of the father providing proof that his daughter is still a virgin, it appears to me that technically they are talking about sexual penetration. So technically the answer is intercourse. By other forms of sex depends on what you mean. In my own opinion, I think that oral and anal sex fall into the same category though technically one remains a virgin. Certainly these cross a technical line that the scripture intends.

What we call "petting" or other such behavior may cross that boundary, but generally I would not consider it the same.

For the first time, I begin to appreciate the privacy of the internet. I'm not sure any of my sisters could have raised this with me as their pastor. :-)

Well, I see it this way.

If you're having oral sex, you're having sex, but you're not losing your virginity.

Yes, that means you're having sex but still a virgin. But that's what makes the most sense to me.

You can't tell me that the person having oral sex isn't having sex, but it's not invasive enough to consider it to be losing one's virginity.

Just to go really crazy, I'd say that if a hypothetical virgin guy had anal sex with a hypothetical virgin girl, then he's no longer a virgin but she still is...even though they both had sex.

Not fair, I know, but to me a guy loses his virginity when he gets his penis into the nether regions of another person. But a woman doesn't lose it until her hymen is broken.

But I'm not the boss of words or anything...

I think that losing one's virginity depends upon how one defines virginity. For example, a lesbian certainly wouldn't claim to still have her virginity if she had never slept with a man, because that's not how she defines her sexuality. Traditionally, though, and that's medically as well as religiously, penile penetration of the vagina has constituted the end of virginity. Times change, however, and so should definitions.

Virginity is technically lost when the Hymen is broken.
Now, unless youve been shoving a pole up ur puss y intercourse is prolly the only way ur gonna lose ur virginity.

That depends on you...I believe that virginity is a two step deal...one physical, one emotional. I say this because there are circumstances that woman cannot prevent like rape, or other types of sex. To me, a rape victom can still be a virgin emotionally, because she did not choose to give her virginity away. For someone who is easing into sex and engaging in other types of sex, it would be more physical, but still technically a virgin.

I think it is just like having intercourse. But questions like "Are you sexually active?" confuse me. I don't know if it means just intercourse. I just say no, because I'm saving mine until I'm married. :-)
