I've been wondering that same thing for awhile now. The best I can figure is the cons use the word "liberal" for anything they don't like or agree with...;that includes the propaganda that is out there that is passing for news...which is pretty far from the left.
Mass media is owned by major corporations who pay for the media to spout their ideals and opinions, not the opinions of the left.

The liberal media is pretty much anywhere you look except for talk radio and Fox. CNN is trying to appear less liberal by adding Glenn Beck.
Of course, when you have the likes of Chris Matthews, Keith O, George Stephanopoulos, Wolff Blitzer, etc. who are all definitely libs I'd say the media tends to lean left. And let's not forget how CBS knowingly used forged docs in a hit piece on Bush then stood by the story and didn't do anything about it until the story was blown (firing Mapes and then gently letting Rather go). The biggest newspapers NY & LA Times are also known liberal papers.
Yep... there is a definite leftist slant otherwise why is there so much screaming in the media over talk radio?
Yes, I agree that Fox is slanted right but that's the only news outlet on TV that does. PBS tries to be balanced but it often fails since most reports tend to show one side of an issue.
It does strike me as funny and shows who is more partisan when the Republican candidates agree to debate with CHRIS MATTHEWS (democrat operative) as the moderator and the Dems refuse to debate on Fox even though it was set up by the Black Caucus.
Yes, Enoch, there IS a liberal media.

It's evident when you look at the studies done.
The first report details the public's knowledge of the war in Iraq. Most were able to correctly choose the number of US casualties, whether or not casualties have risen (yes), and whether there were more or less troops there this year (yes). Far fewer actually knew about the politics of the country or region, and could identify notable figures such as the Iraqi PM, etc.
This essentially tells the story. The news media is a great at flashing casualty figures and op-ed pieces about how badly the war is going, but not really that good at covering important events or participants in the region - something that even the troops have complained about.
Democrats watched more Iraq coverage than Republicans, which should come as no surprise, but both were split as to whether the 3 major networks were wildly different or about the same. The big 3 also were described as "liberal, biased, and informative". The only network that was described with the word "conservative" was Fox.
So now you know where the liberal bias is right? Oh I forgot... your question is rhetorical. Well, it's out there and if you can't "see" it, then maybe you've fallen victim to it's brainwashing and just don't know it yet.

They're gone. Rush started bashing the "left-wing media" in the early 90s. Newt Gingrich and the Congressional Republicans picked up on it. Bush's 2000 selection and the popularity of Fox News destroyed a facts based media and created one who wrongfully went for audience numbers. The spineless media is a big reason this country is in such a mess.

As a confirmed conservative I see it all over, a lot of times it's look at the headline then read the whole story, many times the facts don't support the headline. Prime example, when the judge in MI ruled the phone-taps were illegal, it was front page news, wasn't stated that the people that brought the case went "judge-shopping". When she was overruled, the story was on page 10, in USA Today. I read on average 3 different papers a day, it is amazing how different papers from different parts of the country will cover the same story, and the bend they put to it

These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.
"I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican," said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study's lead author. "But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are."

You found some of it there, sport. CNN, MSNBC, USA Today. Keep looking for NPR, PBS, CBS, ABC, the New York Times, the Washington Post and others and you can consider your journey complete. You can then whine about the fairness doctrine, assuming you don't come to your senses.

Died in WWII. And the CIA helped bury it when it started the cold war with the USSR (deceased).
Air America, some reporters for the NY Times, London Times, and a few others are trying to start one all over again, but Rupert Murdock buys them out as soon as they get any real audience.

CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, USA Today, almost every newspaper. You really believe MSNBC is not liberal? Keith Olberman is objective right?

Clearly you've never watched the network news, PBS or CNN and if you read the NY Times, Washing Post or LA Times you wouldn't be asking this inane question.
