I have a heavy flow so I put one in. This being my first time, I wasn't sure so I removed it when I peed andit hurt so bad, I almost cried..it hurt so bad to take it out. I put it in exactly like the box said to.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need a smaller one? And I still had to wear a pad..thought I wouldn't have to? I'd appreciate some help! Thanks!

Ok...first things first...assuming from your name, you are a not a virgin and in fact have given birth at least once!

In most cases, a women's vaginal canal is large enough to accept a tampon. Only very rarely does a grown woman have trouble with that...and when this is the case, she'll not be able to have sex and certainly not have children.

HOWEVER, we are assuming that this isn't the case with you!

You don't always need to remove a tampon when you pee, but it is a good rule of thumb as the urine stream can leave bacteria on the string and may possibly cause problems.

However, you should not REINSERT the same tampon, you will need a new one. It is next to impossible to reuse a tampon.

Now, when you took it out, was it completely soaked or was it still white? Sometimes when I use a tampon that is too big, it hurts to take it out before its filled up.

I would start off with a smaller absorpbancy, like a regular or even a light. And then change it more often.

And yes, you may not have put it in correctly. You have to make sure that it is in far enough. You should not be able to feel it when you're moving around or sitting or standing. It may require you to push it in further with your finger after its inserted! I use the OB and am used to using my fingers...I have to push it in using my entire finger length.

GOOD LUCK! And keep trying. It's ok to use a small panty liner but it sucks to lug around a big old stinky bloody pad all day!

If it hurt when you removed it you didn't put it in right. Look at a female anatomy diagram and then look at your body with a hand mirror. Locate your vagina and notice in the pictures it does NOT got straight up but it angles when toward the small of your back. You need to put it in toward the small of your back. Also do not remove it when you urinate. Hold the string out of your way and urinate per usual. I would try using a slim for now till you get used to inserting them. Maybe your flow isn't as heavy as you think. A heavy flow person has to change there pad a lot more often than every 4 hours like a normal person does. You could also consider using OB where you use your finger to insert them until you get the hang of it. Do not give up as they are really the way to go just relax and take your time.

Begin with a slender or super-sized one and wear a panty liner with it even if you have a strong flow. Check it every one-two hours and see if you have any spotting. Once you see some spotting on your panty liner, then change the tampon. You're having pain from changing the tampon to soon. It needs to have some liquid in it before it's removed. Once you've done this a few times, your body will adjust to the pressure of having a tampon and then you can move up to the super-plus size as needed.

Yes, you need a smaller size. Get super. You also pulled it out too soon. It wasn't absorbed enough and that's why it hurt like heck.

When the tampon is inserted, be sure you can feel the bottom of it with your finger up to its first joint. That's how I place my tampons correctly.
I always wear a liner on my heavy days. You shouldn't need to wear a pad too unless the tampon is not inserted right.

I have only used them once and had the same experience I think some people must be more sensitive to them cause a lot of my friends thought I was weird for feeling that way too.I just really don't see the point in them if you have to wear a pad anyway because they leak so I just stayed with the pads.

I would say to me it sounds as if it was inserted the wrong way - it shouldn't hurt when it comes time to change it, although you said you put it in and then pulled it out, so could have hurt a little from not being moist. The best way to put a Tampon in is either standing up with one leg propped up on the bathtub, toilet ect ect. or Sitting on the edge of the toilet... I hope this helps!!!

You should try the super without the plus it could be too thick. I would suggest wearing a pad with it too and just change the tampon frequently if you bleed alot. Maybe you have a urinary tract infection cause it shouldn;t hurt. Speak with your gyno about that.

Maybe it was too big for you, but since you have a heavy flow, Super Plus should be fine. Next time, RELAX. Take a deep breath and be gentle. You were probably tense.

Yes, you should get a smaller one. What probably happened is, since they expand when they get moist, it got bigger and harder to slide out then to slide in. Try a smaller size and if you still needed to wear a pad then maybe you should try changing more often.

I have. Not matter what tampon I use it always leaks. It really depends on the person. But yes, Tampax pearl tampons leak for me.
