So, not Hells Bells?

Did someone up there just say Mariah Carey? For the love of God, people...

Poison's "Every Rose Has it's Thorn" I think would count. Damn, I used to actually like that crap! Oh, man!

Who are you people?! A power ballad is a heavy metal love song. Usually from the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Think Motley Crue, Poison, White Lion and all that crap.

Who keeps giving these correct answers the thumbs down? You're clueless!

A love ballad written by a traditionally hard rock or metal band... Aerosmith sometimes receives credit for inventing the power ballad with "Dream On." A more recent example would be Hinder's "Lips of an Angel."

Yes, i have the Monster Ballads CD's. I'm a sucker for flicking a lighter on the floor of a Poison or Ozzy concert.

A power ballad is usually a love song with some power chords in it. It usually has a repetitive chorus, and was really made famous by 80's hairbands. Such as Poison, L.A. Guns, Motley Crue and similar bands.

Lets put it this way... When the big hair metal bands who normally rock out to something loud and fast, decide to come out with something loving and sentimental, the crooning songs that are combined with crazy guitar solo's and screaming chicks like me are considered power ballads.

Saigon Kick - Love is on the way
Warrant - Heaven
Damn Yankees - high enough
Poison - Something to believe in

Sister Christian

Some of these answers are crazy. A "powerballad" is required by every late 70's,80-90's hair/metal band to get the girls to listen to their music and flock to their concerts.
