Silk scarves because they hurt less.
Handcuffs because they don't require cooperation to get your partner locked up.
Tough call, but I like the element of surprise – I’ll go with handcuffs.

Metal handcuffs are a really bad idea. The genuine ones can seriously damage skin, blood vessels, nerves, and bone; novelty cuffs can break or disengage, potentially injuring everybody involved.
Use scarves, tie a knot that won't slip, and keep EMT scissors by the bed in case of emergency.

Oh, handcuffs all the way ... I like handcuffs. They're so in-escapable and you can play the fun game of "oh darn, I can't find the keys" :-)

Always handcuffs. There is something about cold steel and the pain of them being too tight that turns it up a notch.
