My little girl is 12 days old and everytime i put her down to nap or for bedtime she wakes up 30 minutes later....I have tried to swaddle her and make sure shes sound asleep first but she always wakes up....so you can imagine how hard it is to do anything during the day without carrying her around 24/7....anyone have/had this problem and can offer any advice...thinking about getting a sleep wedge with built in heart beat but dont want to waste my money if it doesnt work any suggestions? thanks in advance

This is exactly how Jackson is. I had to do the exact same thing and I ended up just holding him practically all day. It does get really tiresome. But, like Casidee he would start fussing within 30 minutes of being put down. He would kick all the covers off of him even if I had swaddled him tightly. This is my solution...Since he sleeps in bed with me, I started putting him down for his naps in the same place he sleeps in bed with me. And that seemed to help. So it isn't a change of scenery for him. I just make sure there are no loose pillows around that he could pull down on his face. Seems to be working cause he started to sleep for 2 hours at a time after I started doing this. I hope it helps!

I would try swaddling her and putting her in her car seat. That worked for a while with mine. You can always buy the sleep wedge with the built-in heart beat and try it. If it doesn't work out, just return it.

I put in a wedge and then some, plus I took a small cradle pad and lined the edge to help enclose it a little more so she wouldn't feel like she was in such open space. From that day forward she slept soundly in her bassinet. After time I removed the edge, then the wedge, then she moved to her crib.

Try putting her to sleep in her car seat. Babies like the cradling feeling and a bassinet may be too open for her. Also if you have a bouncy seat with built in vibrations, try that. Good luck!

Swaddle her so that she cant get out :)....Feed her in your bed while she is swaddled and that will make the transition from your bed to the bassinet easier too, and she most likely wont wake up.

Try keeping her up a little longer than you are now, feed and change her right before you put her down and if you have an old alarm clock that makes the tic-toc sound, put that under the mattress and that will simulate a hear beat and is much less expensive.

When my son was a newborn he wouldn't sleep in the bassinet, but we found it was because the thing was so hard and uncomfortable so we put a pillow inside the bassinet and from there on he would fall asleep instantly.

had the same problem with my daughter and it just takes patience. It will pass. I used to put her in a bouncy seat right beside me. For naps, she sometimes fell asleep in the swing. I just had to keep putting her down and eventually she got it. First month to 6 weeks is hard.

At 12 days old they usually wake up because they are wet or hungry. Are you sure she is getting enough to eat? My son was waking up every 1/2 hour and eating again (I was nursing) and the doctor said it was because he wasn't getting enough to eat at each feeding.
