Is it just pure laziness, or lack of knowledge, or do they feel like they really can't make a difference!!!!! There is almost nothing I hate more then talking to someone who complains all the time about how things are, but don't even go out and vote for those people that can change how things are, and who really will make a difference.

Your right it is a lack of knowledge and pure laziness, and most people who don't vote don't think it affects them but it does!! in every way!! Thats why society and humanity needs a kick in the @ss in more than one way, nobody cares about anything anymore! Noone asks questions anymore. Little kids stay inside and play video games instead of going outside and playing with their friends. Were raising a generation of stupid lazy people, and they need a kick in the @ss. People fought and died for you to have the right to vote and their just pissing it away.

I haven't voted in the past few elections. It's not a lack of knowledge, but rather the fact that I understand the electoral college system and it sucks! I hate that one candidate can win the popular vote, but lose in the electoral college. It's an antiquated system. I live in California and I acurately predicted that it would go to the Democrats in the last presidential election so yes, it wouldn't have made any difference whether or not I voted because I would have voted Democrat. Between the electoral college system and all of the scandals we've had in the past few elections, I've somewhat lost my motivation.

If you knew how many people voted purely on a candidates looks or knowing only a few of their issues, I'm sure you would be just as disgusted.

If you think every vote is counted, you're wrong. However, Bushs' atrocities have inspired me to re-register and I will be voting in the next election.

With some limited exceptions like physical/mental disabilities etc ,all those citizens who do not vote are simply reprehensible lazy slobs deserving of none of our the fought for and died for freedoms and rights .THey need to live in a dictatorship .

There are currently 31 countries that have compulsory voting laws with varying consequences for non voters.

In Belgium where the oldest compulsory laws exist, one is fined for not voting and if a voter does not vote 4 times consequatively, they lose the right to vote for ten years and it becomes almost impossible to work in the public sector.

WE need such laws here for like the asker I get outraged everytime a hear a non-voter ***** about the government etc perhaps because my father had his guts blown apart in France four days after D-Day fighting to preserve our freedoms like millions of others.

Because I think something is wrong with a system in which there could be a 51-49 vote in the voters but the winner gives 100% of the electoral votes to the majority. Seems to me it would be better to let them vote like their state votes. Would change politics.

I didn't vote for years because I had learned of the electoral college when I was in high school. I knew then that my vote didn't count in national elections.

My mother finally convinced me to register because she said if I didn't vote then I didn't have a right to complain about the current situation. And in a way, yeah she's right.

Though as long as we have an electoral college, I still know my vote won't count.

It is laziness, pure and simple. They like to complain and have the government take care of them to the point where they are too lazy to vote.

A person I know who was proud of having never voting ever, said that they did not vote because they did not want to be blamed for whatever the person running did. And essentially also to blame everyone else for what the person elected does.

The reason why I complain about things is BECAUSE my vote doesn't make a difference.

I'd rather the people who don't care enough to stay home election day. They obviously don't care about themselves, me, or the country so i'd rather they not be forced to vote because they'll just pick our president at random or at most, in an uniformed/uneducated way.
