Before you get on your high horse, please read the entire question before posting an answer. Why do SOME middle aged/older gay men always try to pick up younger teenage and twenty-something guys by going to the clubs and just in general? I mean I know there are guys in their 20s that are into middle aged/older men, and if that's their preference, fine, but why can't they leave us 18, 19 year olds who don't want someone whose old enough to be our father/grandfather alone? Do they realize how old they are already? It's kind of sick how some of them try and manipulate younger guys for their pleasure, that's just nasty and yes I know some older straight men do the same thing. Why can't they date their own age or someone closer TO their age, like 30s or something?
And please realize I said SOME middle aged/older gay men, not ALL. I know there's plenty who are nothing like that and that's cool.

I am gay and middle-aged. I don't take offense to the question, because it does happen. It's not a gay thing, though - it's a male thing. Str8 men do the same thing to women. I think the problem is what some people have alluded to - I don't think they realize how old they are in a way. When you're older you'll realize the truth of what I'm about to say: Your bathroom mirror LIES!!!! I look at myself in the mirror and I don't see 46. I see 28. Then, I see a picture of myself and I say "Wow - look at the old guy. OOPS that's me!" I also see it happen more often to closeted gay men, or gay men who have never had a stable relationship of any kind. In short, they haven't grown up. I appreciate the conversation of some 20 somethings on subjects we hold in common. But relationships between generations are a tricky thing. One way or the other, all you have to do is to politely tell someone hitting on you - of any age - no thanks. And then if they persist or get catty, then tell them off.

Guys tend to swing the other way once they hit 40 or so, and more guys determine they are bisexual. Certainly they are attracted to younger guys becuase younger, fit guys are the most attractive. A fat, balding 45 yr old doesn't want to make out with another guy his age, unless he looks like Tom Cruise. Most guys that age though, don't so they look at the young studs in their sexual and physical prime as their ideal conquests or targets.

For real, I'm in my 20's, and look in my teens and older guys stare at me all the time. Of course, since I am more interested in older men, it works for me, but hey, that's just me. Apparently they like the way you look. When you see someone that you think is hot, do you not look? It's just human nature. So, before complaining about people looking at you, make sure that you turn your head everytime someone you think is cute walks by.

Because that is what they want to do - they are attracted to guys younger than themselves. There is nothing wrong or illegal about dating a person younger than you -as long as they are over the age of consent. If YOU don't want to date a older man simply say "No thank you." I mean is that so unbelievably hard to do? Was that really so hard to figure out you had to ask?

Some of them might not really realize how old they are. Maybe they're denying it to themselves and trying to pick up younger guys is their way of dealing with it.
Just FYI, most of my gay male friends are older and none of them are interested in guys younger than themselves.
It's true some older guys try to manipulate younger guys for sex or whatever... but can you honestly say that some younger guys never manipulate anybody for anything? Of course they do. It's human nature and not limited to "some older guys."

Just because, and don't worry someday you will be old too...
If they can't take the hint, then they are being rude, but you can turn them down nicely too...
Anyone hanging out in a club or a bar should be prepared to get hit on, and sometimes your not gonna be into that person, be nice, karma will remember, and there will be times you get turned down too...

Where were these guys when I was 18, damn it!! It all boils down to preference, and there is an obsession in this country with twinks. I don't understand it, but that's just me.
I understand your frustration...my partner loves twinks....you should see the pornos he has...good gracious...but I keep him in check, so that one less older guy that you need to worry about.

Why you sweating it if people are of age its their perogative to date who they want.. Im 29 so is my B/f of 5 years. If your not flattered by the attention your lieing to yourself. Just because someone comes on to you dosent mean you have to jump in bed with them. Politely let them know your not intrested in anything.
