Printers don't scan, unless they are one of the "all in one" type that includes a scanning bed. Then they come with software. The software provides an interface to do the scanning and save the file. Once you save the file, you can attach it to an email.

you hook your printer up to the computer and scn the picture and it should process straight to the computer if not the try opening up a picture icon on your computer like if you have the kodak program open that and scan from there.

scanners appear under my computer. double click it and pick the windows scanner and camera wizard. it's fairly self explanatory.
