Break it down for me since I have never done anything like this before. What will I need? The dryer will be out on the back porch up against the wall that the breaker is on (but the breaker is outside). So how would I install the plug & what supplies would I need?

Your question says it all.
Hire an electrician. 220 V is far different than 110V.

You must have two open breakers in the breaker box. If not, an add on is needed.

Any advice here could get you in trouble.

220 is too strong for a novice best call an electrician. To save money you may want to run the line to the box but the electrician will still need to be sure its up to code. Your breaker box will need room for a double breaker so be sure thats available or else you will need a new small box for the dryer.

find a 220 circuit
route a 4 wire 200 volt wire rated for the amperage + 20% of the dryer, from the breaker box to the location you want to install the plug.
attach a hot wire to each side of the plug. Attach the nuteral wire to the nuteral plug. attach the ground wire to your ground circuit.

With no electrical experience I would call a real electrician to do this. Not because it is 240 volts, but because it is important to do all wiring correctly and safely.

you need to have a licensed electrician put this in for you.....and most city codes will back this up..you are dealing with alot of power here and one false move and you will be laid out flat....call someone who knows what there doing..its not worth the risk becasue you have to tie this directly into your electrical panal and you need to make sure you have room for it first on your panel.

sorry but this is certainly not a do-it-yourself project .... and it has to be up to code, one false move and you could burn your house down or die
