Is there anybody else out there who doesn't know how to swim too?

My father thought the way to teach children to swim was to take them to the middle of a lake and throw them in.....LoL

He almost drowned me! It was the way his dad had taught him, his brothers & sisters. It's how my dad taught my brothers & sisters. It didn't work for me.

Of course the doctors thought after I was born, that I would not be able to walk either. I had to wear a leg brace for several years. I am able to walk, but I have had a lot of falls too.

My husband has tried to teach me to swim too. I guess I just have to accept the fact that I never will be able to swim & be thankful for the things I can do.

Often when I do go into a pool or lake or anything my husband goes in with me & lets me hang on to him like a dolphin as he pulls me through the water. Sometimes we'll dance around in the water. He takes me back to shore when he is ready to swim.

I can swim perfectly fine as long as I'm at the shallow end of the pool, by the little kids, near the edge. I'd go in the deep end, but I don't think they carry those little arm floaties in an adult size.
Swimming in the ocean is not going to happen.

I my friend also don't swim.
As far as I'm concerned water is only good for three things, cooking, making coffee or tea and the occasional shower.
