I am but I have been sane for 20 years next week. I just kept watching my party slide to a more socialist position. Fortunately a friend introduced me to the Republicans and I have been working hard every since to stop demanding that the government take care of me. It is a battle everyday but well worth it.

I'm a recovering partyist.
I believed at one time that the democrats would be able to get the people's work done, but that was not to be. Too many special interest groups steering them for them to be effective.
Then I thought that the republicans would be a better choice but that also was a fruitless journey since they have been been hijacked by the more zealously religious fringe groups and multinational corporations looking to outsource the good paying jobs to 3rd world countries. As a person who recently had his Sysadmin position split between a help desk in India and a help desk in Brazil, I know this to be personally true.
So I decline to state and will do so until God calls me home (I never said I wasn't Christian. Just that those who seek to influence the republican party upset me on a deeper theological level, but I digress). I will measure candidates by what they stand for and re-evaluate my choices on a regular basis. I will call, email and otherwise disturb and pester my representatives at will, in hopes that what behavior I see as abhorrent can be corrected rather than working to toss the bum out at the end of the term.

Well.. I did get a touch of food poisoning the other day.. and I am a Democrat.. so I guess that makes me a recovering Democrat :)
I'd say it was the vomiting and diarrhea that caused me to realize I was sick :P

I was never a Republican, so I guess the only thing I'm recovering from is a daily dose of Republican bullshit. The toxicity levels in my bloodstream from the rampaging Republican elephant's bullshit is pretty much fatal if not managed.
A recovering Christian might be more appropriate. I stopped being a Christian right after I reached the Age of Reason.

I became infuriated with the Dems policy of giving amnesty to illegal aliens, failing to secure our borders, and calling anyone who is opposed to amnesty for illegals, racists, bigots, or xenophobes! What a bunch of hypocritical jerks! The Dem illegal immigration policy is a total betrayal of our country and it forced me to give up my lifelong membership in the Democrat party.
They just want the votes of the illegals when they become citizens. Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy disgust me!

I was in tax denial for the longest time...and my family did an intervention. They told me how big goverment programs aren't really free, and that money that came right out of my check...before I even seen it...paid for things. Since that time, I go to 12 step meetings whenever I see a pregnant lady and feel compelled to drive her to Planned Parenthood, or whenever I see get the urge to drive an illegal alien to DCFS so they can apply for and get free medical care, food stamps, and WIC. I'm still shaky...I also find myself rooting for Al Qaeda at times...one day at a time, brother, one day at a time.
