We Very Slowly learn Humility through coming to Jesus Christ-taking His yoke upon us-to learn His Way of Gentleness and Humility: though Peace is one result of learning His way of Gentleness and Humility-the purpose of coming to Him is to learn how to walk in the fruit of Humility. {Matthew 11:28-30). *He is the Vine-we are His branches-which can only receive the nutrients we need to grow daily by remainly firmly attached to the Vine.

Would like to share portions from one of my favorite books: It is by Andrew Murray and is called: "Humility: The Journey toward Holiness"

Jesus is our example of humility: "Let this humble attitude of mind, be in you that was in Christ Jesus.....please read Phil. 2:5-11." Because Jesus Humbled Himself continuously to the Father's Will - He {Jesus), through the Holy Spirit was always able to humble Himself before His fellow man; thus He was the servant of all. His Humility was His total Surrender to the Father-to allow the Father to perform His Work through Him; to allow the Father to do through Him what He pleased regardless of what men might say or even do to Him. It is in this humble state of mind-in this spirit and disposition, that the redemption of Christ has its virtue & efficiency. And it is to bring us to this disposition that we are made partakers of Christ Jesus-the LORD. This is the true self-denial to which our Savior calls us, the acknowledgement that self has nothing good in it - except as an empty vessel to fill. It is in this, above and before anything, that conformity to Christ Jesus consists - the being and doing nothing of ourselves that God may be all in all.

Here we have the nature of true humility. It is because this is not understood or sought after, that our humility is so superficial and weak. We must truly learn of Jesus, how He is lowly and meek of heart. No wonder why cultivating the fruit of the Holy Spirit of meekness{humility) is the most challenging of His fruits for us to yield to and to develop. For it entails dying daily to self: considering ourselves dead to sin;but alive unto God in Christ Jesus. Humility is only learned from Jesus and cultivated through the Holy Spirit. Our LORD Jesus-teaches us where true humility begins and finds its strength -- in the knowledge that it is God who works in and all-that our place is to surrender-to yield to Him in perfect resignation and dependence, in full consent to be and to do nothing of ourselves. This is the Life, Jesus Christ came to reveal and to impart - a Life of God that came through death to sin and self. This is what humility is all about. If we feel that this life is too high for us and beyond our reach, it must all the more urge us to seek it in Him. It is the indwelling Christ, who will live this life of humility through us. *If we long for it let us above everything seek the secret of the knowledge of the nature of God, the secret to which every child of God is to be a witness: nothing but a vessel, a channel through which the living God can manifest the richess of His Wisdom, Power, and Goodness. The root of all Virture and Grace, of all faith and acceptable worship, is that we know that we have nothing but what we receive, and bow in deepest humility to wait upon God for it.

It was because this Humilty was not only a temporary sentiment awakened in Him when He thought of God but also was the spirit of His whole life, that Jesus was as humble in His relationship with men and women as He was with God. He felt Himself to be the Servant of God for those whom God created and loved. As a naturnal consequence, He counted Himself the Servant of men and women so that through Him God might do His Work of love through Him. *Jesus never for a moment sought His own honor or asserted His power to vindicate Himself. His whole spirit was that of a life yielded to God. *When we study the humility of Jesus as the very essence of His redemption, as the blessedness of the life of the Son of God, and as the virtue Jesus gives us if we are to have any part with Him, we will begin to comprehend how serious it is to lack humility in our lives.

Are we clothed with the Fruit of Humilty? We are to look at our daily lives. Do others see the humility of Jesus Christ in us? Are we a servant to all, or do we desire to be served?

*Jesus Christ is calling you (and I) to come to Him: to take His yoke upon us: learn of Him: learn His Way of Gentleness and Humility; the result for our soul is Peace. The Peace of Christ.

"Humilty: The Journey Toward Holiness." By: Andrew Murray - a wonderful little book which encourages us toward living the life of Humility.

*"It is GOD who works in us both to will and to do His Good Purpose(pleasure)." - Phil. 2:13 *Please notice that this verse comes after the verses in Phil. 2:5-11: "Let this Humble attitude of mind be in us, that was also in Christ Jesus: who although He existed in the very form of God, did not regard His equality with God a thing to be fully grasped, but He willfully emptied Himself, taking on the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men; being found in appearance of man, He Humbled Himself be becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the Cross! For this reason God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which 'is' above every name, so that at the name of Jesus - every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth, and under the earth, and at the name of Jesus every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the Glory of God the Father."

Humility is really a state of mind that was received from someone with the authority to give it.

Like most words it has several definitions. In short it may be said to be to "Think no more of yourself than you have to, but think so as to have a sound mind." Selfishness is to think of yourself so much that you actually do harm to yourself and others. The overly shy or arrogant persons are so thinking about themselves and being offensive or defensive to see actual situations for what they are. Looking at things from three perspectives seems like a good suggestion to me. From your own, the other person's and an observer from their perspective not yours if you can figure it out. Paradoxically if you understand yourself better you will understand someone else better also an appreciate, hopefully, yourself and them. No negative thinking allowed. Descriptive words help best in describing and observing a situation. Then you will see the others needs and feelings as well as your own in depth, but you almost need the research on Emotional Intelligence to get the right perspective. I guess that leaves humility as an accurate assessment instead of a biased one as the highest definition. Down to earth, realistic.

Humility is the quality of being low and meeky. Humility comes from humus, the dark damp and fertile surface soil of the Earth, deriving from the decomposition of dead plants and animals.

Humble are those who have no riches and not any power of any kind, those who surrender to the might of strong and astute leaders of both the religious and the mundane type.

Humility most often is a quality of mind and spirit with those who are religious and pious.

Humility is a life of sacrifice of your own needs rather than self-gratification. I think in today's society it's as dead of a language as Latin. It ironically takes alot of strength to be humble- it is a much easier path in life to decide and be cocky and pushy.
