I was square dancing in gym class when the Principal made the announcement over the P.A.....Yes, in those days you had to square dance for two weeks during the school year with the boys instead of a normal gym class...don't ask me what the purpose of that was.....

I was in second grade....Mrs. Dinublia's class, Ugh! I remember the announcement that school was being let out for the day. For we younger ones, I suspect they preferred our parents handle the situation.

I went home to a very somber household, with everyone gathered around the black & white screen, watching the events unfolding. It seemed we were out of school for the entire event, until after the burial. I just remember the TV being on , non-stop & how sad it all felt. I still remember how I felt watching John Jr., salute his father's caskett, and hugging my own dad, feeling the sadness of how it would feel to loose him too. A very different time in the world, indeed.

Sadly, too many such events have shattered the security of our emotions, and desensitized our views on violence since those more innocent & naive days.

I was an egg in my mom's ovary. (She was 10 years old at the time..)
But she remembers the day quite clearly..she had been at school, and when she came home. her grandma was crying and telling her that Kennedy had been murdered.

I was 18 mons old so I couldn't really tell ya. I'm sure it havd something to with food, naps and dirty nappies.
