Today, Bill Walsh passed away at the age of 75. Obviously he was one of the greatest ever. Where does he rank in your list?

Number one, and not just because he just passed away. He not only coached teams to greatness, but trained virtually all of the great offensive minds in the NFL today. His contribution to football will last for generations....the game of football loses something without him:

He will be missed.

At or near the top. A soft-spoken, humble, yet brilliant coach.

I have one humorous memory to share. John Madden (on his morning show with KCBS) would share about his golf outings with Bill Walsh. John, not being a very good golfer, would ask Bill (being a better golfer) for a handicap. John said Bill's response was always to grab his lower back and deny the request. Or there was that other time after Bill had lasik eye surgery...John said he was afraid to play poker with Bill because 'Bill could now see through everyone's cards.'

Bill always displayed a silent and healthy competitive spirit.

Our condolences to the Walsh family...we will miss him dearly.

The GREATEST coach and influence on the NFL in the last 30 years.

A class individual on and OFF the field.

The entire Bay Area will be a darkened place tonight.

Rest In Peace, coach.

He is number 1 in my book and not just because I am a 49er fan, but of course I became a Niner fan because of him. He helped the game to evolve. It was his revolutionary style that helped to propel the game to a whole new level. Bill will be missed.

Top 5. I can see why people would have him number one. I would put madden and lombardi over him, but that is more of a personality thing.
