I keep hearing, from Republicans, that there's a distinction between neo-cons and the far right-wing fundies/fanatics... and the rest of the Republican party.

What are the distinctions? How badly misrepresented are most Republicans by the neo-cons and fundies/fanatics?

Out of a population of three hundred million,

There are two Black Republicans;

There are five guys who work in a machine shop on the Jersey coast who still believe in trickle-down economics;

There are about a million overweight, middle-aged, angry bald men who still listen to Limbaugh. Demographers call them ABM's. They don't like women and don't have too much use for sex. These days.

They believe that Mexicans stole their jobs. Actually, their jobs were shipped to India and Mexico by the corporate fatcats who run the party they still support. But it's a lot easier to hate Mexicans.

There are about two million crazed Fundamentalists, only a few of whom have any power, who, based on a peculiarly American interpretation of three verses of the Book of Daniel, are waiting for the Endtimes when they'll be sucked upward by the Great Vaccuum Cleaner and the rest of us evildoers will have to contend with the Whore of Babylon.

There are about one million people who are still in the Affluent Yuppie class. They are taking out thirty year mortgages on half-million dollar Macmansions, but they're waiting for the Endtimes too, and sending their kids to the Christian day school near the mall, the one with the cute ark on the lighted plastic sign. It's like a diverse portfolio.

The rest of the Republican party has pretty much bugged out.
Now they call themeselves Independents or Libertarians.

Every bit as much as the working guy Democrat is by the socialist side of that party.

Me, I don't want to be whacked with a Bible or see kids being shown how to put a condom on a banana.

I don't care if an adult woman wants an abortion but draw the line letting children in that door without consent from parents or a court.

Most of us are middle ground leaning a bit right or left, in my opinion, making most of us misrepresented.

The only true Republican who holds the real Conservative values is Ron Paul

And they won't even give him the time of day

That shows how out of touch they are - and they so proudly label themselves as Conservatives without knowing the true definition of the party line!

They are a joke!

(500 9/11 conspiracists living in their mom's basement CAN"T BE WRONG)

No CONspiracies - just facts the Globalist's and media bad guys ignore.

And try a couple million 9/11 truthers - and most of us have no basements!

Keep running - we will catch up soon

Well, here is how it is for me. I am a moderate conservative. I believe in God but am not out to convert the world. I respect the right of everyone to have their own opinion. I am generally moderate - I think abortion is generally undesirable but there are cases in which it is necessary and should be legal in my opinion. I think people should have the right to own guns but only under strict regulations. I am in favor of smaller government that practices fiscal responsibility. I am not a single issue voter. There is no litmus test in my opinion. I am for securing our borders and I am against amnesty. I am for marriage between a man and woman, but in favor of domestic partnerships. I am in favor of certain social programs but not pure entitlements. I think public education is great. I am completely against corruption by any of our elected officials and I make no excuses for people of any party who break the law. I don't hate others regardless of their lifestyle choices or opinions and I think for the most part, the government should leave people alone and let them live their lives.

Just some of my personal opinions. I am not a fundamentalist anything. I'm just me, trying to be open minded and trying to respect others.

Democrats have Nancy Pelosi, we have Jerry Farwell. There are fanatical nuts on both sides of the street. As long as the majority of us on either side dont let the fringe element behind the wheel, this country will continue on just fine.

Well, I heard Richard Viguerie on the radio this morning. He's considered one of the creators of the conservative movement with his direct mail campaigns. He has banded together with Bob Barr and others and come up with an American Freedom Agenda. They are very anti-Bush and feel betrayed by him, saying he claimed to be a conservative and then once he got elected, they found he wasn't. Surprise!

They are talking to liberal groups like ACLU to see if they can work together, and they want all the candidates to sign on to their agenda. Of course, they're about six or seven years too late, but who's counting?

Here's the agenda: http://christinesmithforpresident.com/cblog/index.php?/archives/22-The-American-Freedom-Agenda-The-Freedom-Pledge.html

And here's an article about it: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/06/12/disaffected_conservatives_set_a_litmus_test_for_08/

He has stood up and has been told to sit back down by all the lobbies in Washington .
Even his own party does not want to claim him .
You and I both know who he is but he shall remain nameless due to the attacks received whenever his name is mentioned .

Good question. Seems the only example of a "true Conservative" or good republican that is ever offered is Ronnie,(I can't recall) Reagan.
