The Lakers aren't even close to competing for a title right now. They are looking at a 7th or 8th seed again, at best. The glory day are over, at least for now.
Kobe will undoubtedly end up in the Hall of Fame.
The Spurs have to be the favorite going into the season, though they've never won back to back titles before.

The Spurs will more than likely win the Western Conference and the championship. If not, the Suns will probably take it. Unless something happens in the next few days/weeks, I wouldn't say the Lakers did enough in the off-season to really contend in the West.
As far as Kobe- he will make the hall of fame. Here's just a few things he's accomplished since entering the league in '96:
3-time NBA Champion
2-time Scoring Champion
9-time NBA All-Star
2-time NBA All-Star Game MVP
9-time All-NBA Selection
7-time All-Defensive Selection

i think the lakers will make the playoffs not the championship. Kobe will definetley go in to the hall of fame no question unless they find out he's been doing steroids scince the beginning of his career.
I know the suns are going to be champions next year. they would have won this year too but the dumb nba rules sat down stoudemire. the nba is now considering on making exeptions on that rule that if there is a fight u cannot move from the bench area eventhough it was only a couple of inches.

They won't make the finals unless they get Jermaine O'Neal or Kevin Garnett...as well as some other pieces. You don't need to work on it for several years. Look at what the Heat did.
I think Kobe will be in the hall of fame and of course have his jersey retired alongside West, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Baylor, Johnson, Worthy, Goodrich (his is retired, right?), and Hearn...and hopefully Shaq's will be up there.

I'm no expert, but I do think Kobe is a future Hall of Famer, but I don't think the Lakers will be in title contention for the next few years.
