fengshui is a divination. it is not a belief, nor a religion; meaning, it works even if we do not believe in it. it is definitely unchristian, thus, christians walk their path alone without the help of fengshui.
in fengshui, there are many ways to attract wealth, here are just some of the ways. but to understand these, you must know the fengshui concepts, which are not published in most books, only taught by fengshui masters:
- activate current water star (flying star concept) by putting a moving water like an aquarium with an aerator
- position properly the stove/ microwave/ ricecooker using the 8 mansions to attract wealth.
- have a flowing water positioned correctly based on water dragons concept.
- have your office/ work area at an area where there is good energy (flying star)
- when there is good energy in an area (determined by calculating using flying star concept), you make it larger, while make the area with the bad energy smaller.
tips on what to do: get a fengshui master or someone who knows to do an audit and give you advices. they will understand how to apply the things i mentioned above. this is the cheapest and most effective way to go about it. than reading it from a book or website and doing trial and error.

um... hm.. I think it is rather superstitious. The principles of Feng Shui are primarily derived from the I-Ching-an ancient Chinese divination book.... that being said (you mentioned something about if it is non-Christian)- divination of any kind is strictly forbidden in Hebrew/Christian scriptures...
but in any event. Feng-shui is highly superstitious in my opinion, what Feng-shui does, however, is create open spaces that make you feel better psychologically, thus creating a better work place...its more like an eastern organizational tool in my opinion, but some people carry it to the extent of actually believing in it.
There are two schools of Feng-Shui.. The most common in the US is the Black Taoist Sect of Feng shui. This uses the "bagua" pattern and places it over the map of your house, or room, or entire property. Each section corresponds to a certain part on the "bagua map." The Map tells you pretty much what colors/ palcement objects should have in your house. It is rather detailed. If you really want to do this get the book "Feng Shui for Dummies."
You might use more balancing effects in your room such as water and earth in each room (like a plant and a fish tank/or a waterfall machine) with some green color.

the main thing is to open up the house to the energy and allow it to flow through the house. no clutter anywhere.
put a bowl of water or goldfish in the south eastern part of the house.
red around the doorway is inviting.

it is hard to say what can you do because different people, different places have different ways to do.But you should be very careful. if you have a good master, it is OK.but you have a bad one, you have trouble.
