'since so many people seem to be too retarted to understand that "I Am Legend" was a book written by Richard Matheson in the 1950s and that this movie is not a rip off of The Omega Man, or The Last Man on Earth, or 28 days/weeks later.
Omega Man w/ Charleton Heston and The Last Man on Earth w/ Vincent Price were both adaptations of the same book while 28 days later is not based off the book but is a very similar story as I Am Legend; i wouldnt be surpirsed if the makers stole a lot from the book.
so i hope this thread will help stop the morons from posting about how its the same story as 28 days later b/c this is a far better story and i think its gonna be a far better movie.'

I Am Legend was written by Richard Matheson in the '50s and is the story of the last known human on an earth that has been infested with Vampires.
In the book Robert's neighbors stand outside his house yelling at him to come outside. they don't try to get in at first, rather, they just pester him into coming outside. During the day he goes out looking for clues about other non infected people, hunts for food, or whatever he needs. Eventually he stumbles across a young girl who doesn't appear to be infected.
...or is she?
Also, and of note, The Last Man On Earth and Omega Man were both loose translations of this book as well.

It's an adaptation of the book "I Am Legend" and a remake of THE OMEGA MAN (which also came from the book). THE LAST MAN ON EARTH is also based on the same story.

"The Omega Man" is a great sci fi film. It shouldn't of been remade. Nobody would remake "Gone with the Wind". If you liked "Omega Man" rent "Solient Green". I hope they don't remake that one.
