I just don't know how to get the word out other than, standing on the sidewalk with sign, is there a national orginization that maybe, makes donations to certain individuals, to allow them to go out and promote the right that we all have, but little want or care about using. If you don't use it, then you lose it.

glen b has the right idea. I think that would be a great idea.
On them you can explain the importance of voting and reclaiming the American people's voice in the process of government.
Also, create signs on large pieces of cloth and hang them over freeway underpasses. I see that here in Los Angeles all the time. It's a great way to get the message out. Get creative! Have a sky writer write it with their air plane in the sky. Get a group together in your community to find a way to have a big community concert with local bands and if you can afford it, one headliner band, and have it's theme the very thing you are concerned about. Advertise in the local newspapers, radio stations, t.v stations what this is about.
Or, have the organization have a huge community picnic and BBQ and have important speakers come.
These get a little more elaborate, but I'm sure there are some things you can do in your community that is very specific to the nature of that community to get the message out.
You could always put a bull horn on the top of your car and drive through your community with a message to get out and vote and that it is their duty to do so. LOL.
Hold a parade,
Get kids involved because it is their future that you are talking about.
Hold a pep rally?
Voluteer to drive people to the polls and home again just so they can vote.
Create a cartoon character and short commercial for television for local t.v stations. See if you can get non-profit status and funding to have it get air time.

You see, there are all kinds of things to do.

Steal a postal uniform.

Put a sign on your car that says: "Vote or die" and park outside the local disco and wag your finger at everybody like Bill Clinton.

Make lots of fliers and go door to door. Put them on windshields. Participate in civic communities that encourage voting.

I would call the League of Women Voters (you don't have to be a woman) and ask if they have some good ideas.
