of lying to a grand jury and using steroids, should MLB delete his soon to be Home Run record? The Tour de France does it, why not MLB? I am tired of the "everybody does it excuse". That is marginally valid only against his contemporraries, not against the ages, which is the concern of this particular record.

No, the tour de France does the right thing, baseball should, too. The everybody else is when everybody else does the wrong thing.

There is no evidence that Bonds lied to the grand jury, or he would have already been indicted. How can you take anything away from Bonds if he has never been found guilty of anything? The grand jury hearings have been extended three separate times and still no evidence has been presented for consideration. I believe they will disband soon without an indictment.

How can they possibly take away his record? Perjury isn't a baseball crime. Pete Rose gambled on baseball and was banned from the game for life, yet his records are still in tact. If you go to MLB.com's historical stats page, you'll see Pete Rose's name right at the top of the list for most AB's, Hits, etc.
So why would they not take away Pete Rose's records and stats when it is known that he gambled on the very games that he was playing in. He could have (and possibly did) do things to throw games in his favor. If Bonds cheated (thats right.... I said "if"), he did it to help his team win by getting a little more power behind his swing.
what grounds would MLB have for removing his records? i can't see a single one.
furthermore, if you removed Barry's home runs, what about his walks, hits, runs, on base %, slugging %, etc? do you take all of those away too? If they do it to him, it's only fair to take away the stats of every other player who either has tested positive for steroids in his career, or who is suspected of taking steroids. lets see... there goes McGwire, Canseco, Palmeiro, Caminetti, Juan Rincon, Sosa, Roger Clemens, and now A-Rod. Where do you draw the line????
the answer to that question for all the hypocrites out there is easy. you draw the line at Barry Bonds, and why??? because he has a single season home run record, and is about to get the all time record. well so-friggin-what. if he didn't have these records, no one would give a rat's behind that he may have juiced up.

Once Bonds breaks the record he is going to disappear he is going to get hurt or reveal an injury and then be done for the year. Then he will retire. Once he is out of the spotlight, you will never hear about him and the investigation will cease.

Bonds is clean.
Stop letting the rants of sport journalists who do like him because he does not talk to them sway your opinion. The media has gained more money from the thought of Bonds doing steroids then what Bonds is accused of gaining.

He won't get indicted or convicted. They can't get enough evidence against him to get him indicted. Like Chris Rock said you can't convict someone of speeding just because you think they where speeding a year ago.

He will not be tried for using steroids because he took them when they were legal.
The case against Barry will be tax evasion and perjury but not drug use.
He'll definitely see jail time or get probation, if his record is clean.

if/when Bonds is convicted (not just indicted) his record will be taken away. any/all records will be taken
but until then we have to deal with him and his records.
