MY son is over 4 months, he eats a little cereal in the morning for breakfast.. And throughout the day, he eats about 5 oz.. But at nighttime bottle, after bath, he'll eat 10 oz... even if he just ate 2 hours ago... So should i feed him dinner? Some kind of veggie or something? Or just stick to 10 oz.. Which is alot and he spends the next morning spitting up everything..

he does great with cereal by the way.

If you feel he is ready for veggies, go for it. I started feeding my daughter vegetables at that age. Just take it slow. Only a half a jar at the most for one feeding. Avoid peas at first though... they seemed to make my daughter constipated really bad. Shes fine with them now.

If he spits up a lot in the morning, try eliminating the morning cereal and move it to the evening. Try giving him a little cereal after his bath before his night time bottle and decrease his bottle to 8 ounces. Stick with just the cereal until he is closer to 6 months than you can begin to add one new food at a time for a few days and then try something new. This helps to detect any possible food reactions.

All of my babies had acid reflux, so I know spitting up. My 1st two babies suffered with bad bellies that always felt empty, but you couldn't fill up. They were on Zantac & hypoallergenic soy formula - but they didn't stop spitting up until their systems matured. My youngest baby also had reflux, but this time I was going to an old school pediatrician that suggested one teaspoon of rice cereal for every two ounces of formula. It makes it thick enough to stay down & fills his belly nicely. It has not interfered with his eating habits - he drinks enough formula & eats breakfast and dinner as well. We aren't ready for three meals a day yet, but real soon. I would suggest dinner of a veggie & fruit (meat after 6 mos old) and a 4 ounce bottle. Then wait a few hours and make a nice 8 ounce bottle with cereal in it. Hopefully, that will do the trick. Good luck....

Pediatricians recommend starting solids between 4-6 months of age starting with cereal. So, as long has he has been on cereal for 3-5 days without showing a reaction then start introducing solid foods. Just keep giving the cereal in the morning as well. If you dont' want to start on solids yet, then you can give him a bowl of cereal at night as well.

I would feed him a little cereal at night too. But I wouldn't try veggies yet.
