I have 8 siblings, and while it is nice to have such a large family there are negative aspects to it as well, for example, when there are too many children it is hard for the parents to give each child the individual attention that they need, and that can result in mental problems for the child, Let me tell you it was not fun growing up and competing with 8 other children for help with my homework, in addition to that, both my parents were always stressed out about finances, and that didn't give us alot of fun time with our parents, and we were not able to join school programs either because there were too many of us, uniforms and equipment are expensive and with 9 kids the odds of having more than one event at the same time is pretty great. I think mostly it is unfair to the children

In the area that we live, we call them Amish Families.
I am sorry, that was not nice. I think it is great if a family can have that many kids as long as they are well taken care of and provided for. It is very hard in this day and age to have such a large family. The price of things is just so high.
There were 13 in my Moms family and 4 in my dads. You really don't see that to much anymore. Except in my area like I said earlier, the Amish families.

I know of 3 families who have had 9 kids each. The parents were well-informed of their children's whereabouts, friends, school activities, etc. The kids were kind, generous, fun, and normal. Yes, they fought but made up. They shared clothes. They were all close and supported one another. I loved being around all 3 families!
I say if married couples have that many kids, bless them. If parents have only 1 or 2 kids, bless the parents. Remember, children are a gift from God.

That is great! A guy I knows has raised his 15 children (the youngest was three when his wife passed) with an income around $30,000 and they are the most amazing family to be around. One got $60 for his birthday and really wanted pizza, his dad offered to buy frozen pizza but he really wanted real pizza so he bought the whole family pizza and that was his birthday gift! Now, that amazing. Large families have a really close bond and know that the in clothes are not as important as being with their family!

That they've got a lot of money or haven't heard of birth control.
If a couple/family can support a lot of kids, more power to them. If not, then it's irresponsible. Personally I don't want to go through pregnancy/childbirth even once...must less MANY times!

If a household is able to support a large number of children - physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally, then if that's what the parents desire, then good.
If the household is NOT able to provide the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental support to a large group of children, then I suggest they limit their offspring to only as many as they ARE able to support properly.
Mostly I suggest we keep out of other people's bedrooms.

I hope they have the money to support them and aren't living off the system taking from people who do have jobs and have their own families to support.
We no longer need huge families to support the farm and carry on the name and just incase a few die from disease like back in the day. I don't see the point of it. Have a family unit, but you don't need a football team.

If they can afford it great.......if we are supporting them then poopy on that! I am not assuming anything! Coming from big families is awesome! When you are growing up there is always someone to play with........when you grow up you have such an extended family with spouses, kids..etc that its great! I am sure they are very busy.........and have stock in Prozac!

My mom is one of 14 kids. I don't really think anything of it, I just think "wow, their house must be crowded!".
Having lots of kids doesn't mean that they're whores, my grandparents, being devout Catholics, didn't believe in birth control and they just happened to be really fertile, lol.
