I plan to switch out my Intel Celeron D processor in my computer currently for a Pentium D, will I need a new more powerful fan ?.

Also should i use thermal paste ?.

yes u need a more powerfull fan, u always need thermal paste for all cpu's

You should buy the boxed version of the Pentium D which will come with a cooling fan suited to it. As for thermal paste, yes absolutely you always need to use some type of thermal paste.

the fan you have should still fit any 775 socket fan will fit any 775 socket processor...

although what you will find is that pent d processors are power hungry and produce more heat then your cel. d.

at stock speeds it shouldn't be an issue, under prolonged heavy usage or especially oc'ing, it would be advisable to use an after market cooler.

always use therm. paste!
