From experience, no, it won't run. I tried playing Company of Heroes that needed 1GB when I had only 512MB. It didn't work. The only thing I can say is upgrade your RAM.
When I bought a 1GB of memory, everything went perfectly.

Also, you should look into updating your video card as well. The game you might want to play might need a strong, up to date video card if you currently have a integrated video card.

Ok, ignore what some of these people are saying. It is quite possible to run a game that requires 512 but it will run sluggish. It will not run at its full potential, try upgrading to 512,1GB. Most games now and days require 512+

maybe , but 256ram is nothing these days , it will barely keep u up , games thats comming out now , require at least 512ram , and half of em require more than 1gb, it seems that with a comp who is holding 256ram only its an old comp, i wouldn't recommend buying new ram card , no need to spend money on an old comp , especially if it isnt that fast , i think you are going to need to buy new comp sooner or later , instead of just wasting your money on the ram. u can also build your own comp , its not that hard if u do some research.

Most games run bad enough at the bare minimum. Any worse and even if it did run, it'd probably take a long time just to start.

It probably wouldn't even let you install it. Most games check the system specs during the install process.

if the games is requiring 512 then do it....
your PC wont run..cause when you turn on your PC it start to use your memory... in your case That you have only 256 windows use half or one third of your memory so you dint have enough memory to run your game.. and your PC will stat to dump your physical memory...
