In my opinion:
The sexiest accents: North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Virginia
The most annoying accents: Ohio is very uber-nasal, Kentucky is just straight-up the most hillbilly and twangy. I can't stand either of them! (I live in KY and have met a lot of people from OH, so there you go.)

There IS a difference b/t Kentucky and a real Southern accent. Kentucky accents are much more forced in speech, more nasal like Ohio, and more whiny sounding.
A Southern accent, on the other hand, is genuinely smooth-flowing, less nasal, and really sweet sounding.

I LOVE a Southern Accent, especially when it's a man speaking. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
I am not too fond of the Boston Accent for some reason.
I live in Michigan (lower Peninsula) and we don't have an accent. :) (the ones in the upper Peninsula do but they sound more like those people from Wisconsin)

Sexiest: Louisiana Most Annoying: Minnesota
I guess I'm just partial because I am from Louisiana! Most people get Texas and Louisiana accents mixed up though.

I love that Texas drawl. The folks from Boston have an accent that annoys me. They sound like they are trying to do an upper-class Englishman accent and not quite getting there.

Sexy- The Southern accent is so friendly and pleasant sounding
Annoying- Wisconsin. Some people from Wisconsin say "McDonalds" as if it were MACK-Donalds and the way they enunciate sounds odd. This may not be true of all Wisconsonites, but it was rampant north of Madison where I attended a wedding.

I have no idea about other states, but my guy was raised in southern California, and he sounds pretty sexy and exotic out here on the Canadian west coast. He doesn't sound the least bit hillbilly ,twangy,or nasal, and he's real polite like.;)

since i'm a georgia girl, i have to agree with you about the sexiness of southern accents. i think michigan and ohio accents are both pretty bad, and virginia accents get on my nerves...
PS- there's this really cool documentary called "American Tongues" that I watched in college-it's a PBS production, but if that sort of thing interests you, you should look it up. it was really fascinating.

I think people from New York (mainly Brooklyn) have the sexiest accents. I have Texas accents so much, they're so annoying.

South Jersey is the uber accent. Reason? We have none. We do not say "Joisey" like everyone that's not from Jersey thinks. That is North Jersey which might as well be a totally different state as far as accents are concerned.

I grew up in Boston and yeah the New England accent, on the whole, is wicked annoying - I down play it as much as possible. (I still use wicked as an adjective though, but I include the letter "r" in my vocabulary - hehehe)
the southern accent is a tad sweeter sounding - they can tell you any o'le thing and you'd believe it.
